The other day I was asked what makes a Baptist different from an Anglican, I of course listed a number of differences, one of which was the position on Baptism, while some more progressive Anglican churches will only baptist believers now days, the position on believers baptism is not only something that defines us (Baptists!) but also something that we need to always have at the fore front of our thoughts.
The Baptism of repentance was central to the mission of the John the Baptiser, Jesus was indeed baptised and also commissioned his disciples to go into all the world and baptise. Baptisms are a sign of life in the church, they are a sign that the church is committed to that commission of Jesus.
So this summer we will have an opportunity, while Mount Wise Pools are open, for those who have not yet been baptised as believers to follow Jesus’ own example. But also to follow Jesus into his death and resurrection, as Paul tells us to do. Baptism is not to be taken lightly, but as a sign of our inner salvation, Baptism is essential in the life of anyone who truly wants to follow Christ.
So if you would like to get Baptised this summer, do contact Michael.
