I am Michael, I am the Pastor of DCBC. I am married to Katie and we have one lovely adopted Daughter and a border terrier. Born and raised in Surrey, after my Politics degree, I entered into the Business world, working in Marketing, before leaving that world behind to work as the Student associate at Joshua Generation (a project equipping young Christians to fulfil their destiny) I worked in the Student world preparing students for life beyond University. After that, I moved to Bristol to become the director of an inner city mission project called re:Source Bristol, which worked to partner small and large Baptists churches for creative inner city mission. It was during my time in Bristol that I was called to Baptist Ministry and trained at Bristol Baptist College, before moving to Devonport in 2012, just in time for the London Olympics.
I am also the Baptist Chaplain at Plymouth University and I am interested in how we engage with the Millenial (“Missing”) Generation, I have written a number of articles on that subject.
You can download my sermons here.
I am passionate about mission, community, prayer, and worship. As a church, we are committed to being a Hospitable, Generous and Community. That is my vision to for how we can make the Gospel available to an increasingly cynical, secular and ambivalent world, how we can truly be GOOD NEWS!
When I am not being a Pastor, I like walking by the sea with my family. I am Cricket mad and I also love most sports, especially Rugby and Golf!
I enjoy listening to Folk music and can occasionally be found playing the Guitar, Mandolin or Bouzouki
