1. Detached Youth Work Volunteer (Sunday Mornings)
Location: Mount Wise area of Devonport, Plymouth
Type: Volunteer (Unpaid)
Time Commitment: Sunday mornings, approx. 10:45am–12:30am
Overview:
This “detached” youth work focuses on building trust and positive relationships with young people who may not attend church but hang out nearby.
Responsibilities:
- Walk around local streets or park areas to engage with youth
- Build informal connections and offer a listening ear
- Help signpost young people to church activities or support
- Work in pairs or small teams, always following safeguarding guidance
Qualities Needed:
- Confident and calm when approaching young people
- Able to listen without judgement
- A heart for outreach and relational ministry
- Willing to undergo DBS check and safeguarding training
